| WHEN: May 22, 2021, 2 pm – 5 pm WHERE: HILLSBOROUGH MUNICIPAL COMPLEX (rear parking lot, in between the library and police department). EVENT DETAILS: Hillsborough Township, in partnership with Raritan Headwaters, is hosting a WELL WATER TESTING EVENT. Any resident that would like to have their well water tested may purchase a test kit at a discounted rate at this event. Representatives will be on site to answer any question you may have regarding your well water. Once participants purchase a test kit, they will be given instructions on how to properly take the sample. The sample must then be returned to the same location on MAY 26, 2021 between 7 am and 9:30 am, so that it can be delivered to the state certified testing laboratory. RESULTS WILL BE MAILED DIRECTLY TO PARTICIPANTS APPROXIMATELY 2 WEEKS AFTER SUBMISSION OF SAMPLE. Some of the tests that will be available: — Basic Kit (includes coliform bacteria, e.coli, & nitrate. Should be tested for every year) $60. –Arsenic (More than 20% of wells sampled in Hillsborough exceed the safe drinking water standards for arsenic) $35. — Radon (Somerset County is a High Risk area for Radon. Should be tested at least once) $50. — Gross Alpha (test for uranium and radium. Should be tested at least once) $80. — Other tests will also be available (see health department website for more details and available testing options).
