Millstone Borough is governed by the “Borough”  form of government. This type of government allows for a direct election of a Mayor,( 4 year term), and 6 Council  positions,( staggering 3 year terms).

The Mayor acts as the administrative authority for the town and is empowered to see that all laws, policies and procedures are enforced. The Mayor chairs all the Council meetings but only votes, when needed, as a tie breaker.

The Council acts as the legislative body that creates, modifies and repeals local ordinances. Further, they each have distinctive roles as liaisons for each department in the township.
